Water
Research, created in 1960, was a pioneer and currently is
a major contributor to the development and growth of water
exploitation and geotechnical investigations
|
in
Mauritius and Rodrigues. Our activities have also covered
other islands in the Indian Ocean, including the Seychelles.
Water Research’s extensive experience in the field makes
it the Mauritian specialist in the drilling of exploitable
wells and geotechnical studies. Water Research possesses the
appropriate plant and know-how to undertake a diverse range
of tasks, from the simplest to the most complex, onshore or
offshore. Our professional service has earned the appreciation
from local and overseas consultants and contractors.
Composed of a dynamic multifunctional team of 21 dedicated
operatives and technicians, Water Research is a company that
values the know-how and experience of its staff. Water Research
is the only drilling company in Mauritius with a core full
time engineering team that includes a geologist, a geotechnical
engineer and a civil engineer. This is a plus to the wealth
of knowledge collected by our experienced operatives through
the years.
Water Research has recently obtained the ISO 9000 2008 certification
for the scope of Geotechnical and Hydrogeological Investigations
demonstrating its commitment to quality and good practices.

Main
products and services
Bore
hole drilling
Water Research assists in the exploitation of groundwater by performing
explorations, drilling and developing new boreholes or rehabilitating
and servicing wells already in exploitation. The company has undertaken
more than 2,700 drillings in search of fresh or sea (beach wells)
water. Our proposals and scope detailing is based on the vast experience
and knowledge of our personnel. Water Research’s activities
have covered the majority of the Mauritian territory and all areas
of economic activities, including residential, industrial, recreational
and public services. Water Research also supplies and installs submersible
pumps and carries periodic monitoring and servicing of a portfolio
of pumps for various private clients and government organisations.
Our
3No. fully equipped drilling plants enables us to carry out drillings
of 150mm to 450mm in diameter reaching up to 500m depth. Our more
recent acquisition is a Super Rock Drill 5000.
Geo-technical
Water Research undertakes geotechnical investigations to support
the design and construction of infrastructure from buildings, bridges,
wind turbine, roads and dams onshore to cruise berth facilities,
bridges and quays offshore. The company also carries out works in
the field of grouting, anchoring and micro-piling.
Water Research has 5No. drilling plants dedicated to geotechnical
investigations capable of carrying out drilling of 63mm to 117mm
diameter and up to 200m depth. The company also manufactures and
operates a jack up barge capable to carry out works on up to 10m
of water depth.
Water
Research has also recently acquired a Menard Pressuremeter used
as an in-situ controlled loading test performed using a inflatable
probe on the walls of boreholes measuring the strength and stress-strain
properties of all soil types and soft rock providing valuable information
on a variety of subsurface conditions. Water Research’s operatives
and engineer have been trained by the Equipment Manufacturer Apageo
France in the applications and use of this equipment.
